Why we built Unpeat

Forms are the connective tissue of the internet — onboarding, intake, claims, applications, renewals. They're also, almost universally, a chore. You type the same name, address, and date of birth into box after box, form after form, for the rest of your life.

We thought that was a little ridiculous.

The idea

What if a form could fill itself out? You bring the context once, and the software does the tedious part — matching your details to the right boxes, formatting them correctly, and validating as it goes.

That's Unpeat. You point it at a form; it unpeels the busywork.

Three things we cared about

  1. Form-agnostic. It shouldn't matter who built the form or how. If a human can fill it in, Unpeat should be able to as well.
  2. Accurate boxes. Getting the right value into the right field is the whole game. We spend an unreasonable amount of effort on box detection.
  3. Fast. A form that takes a day should take minutes.
